Have you ever read the amazing stories in the Bible and thought to yourself, "Wow... God used people to do some amazing things back then".

The accounts of how the Holy Spirit fell in Acts, the stories of Paul's ministry throughout the New Testament, the things that God used people like Moses and Elijah to do and all that Jesus' disciples accomplished during their time are all amazing stories to me. 

My initial reaction when I read them is to place them in the distant past. I would consider them great stories, but didn't consider them to be part of my reality today... instead they were a piece of history. The time element often caused a disconnect with my faith. Is it possible to really line my faith for today up with those stories... they happened so long ago? Can I really believe that it was possible to experience things like that with the Lord today? What happened 2 days ago is reality to me, but 2000 years ago was a bit of a stretch.

2 Peter 3:8 --
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. KJV

According to this verse in 2 Peter, a thousand years is the equivalent of 1 day in God's
eyes. He does not consider time in the same linear fashion that we do. Perhaps in God's eyes, the amazing stories of the Bible happened just 2 days ago. 2 DAYS AGO! Now that is a lot easier for me to wrap my faith around. Maybe He wants us to have as much confidence in what happened 2,000 years ago as we do in what happened just 48 hours ago. It seems He makes no distinction between the two.

If God is the same yesterday today and forever, than the power He demonstrated 2 days ago is more than available to us today.
